The current proliferation of weapons with ultimate destructive power has shifted the tipping point from progress in civilization to self-annihilation. We are using our best to do our worst. Virtually every tribe arrives at two common sense moral values – The Golden Rule and Love your neighbor as yourself. Although these two values are preached, they are consistently practiced by only a minority. Common sense is not common. The secret of love-creation is skill in self-endorsement. Self-endorsement skills are easy to learn. However, they are not only not endorsed, they are discouraged. “Approval only counts if it comes from someone else.”
We know we can no longer tolerate war. We now recognize the “either/or” way of thinking we all first learn that creates allegiance to our tribe often at the peril of not our tribe. This addictive disease will slay us as it divides the world into two categories. It is the source of bigotry, prejudice, win/lose confrontation, and explains why our history is defined by its series of wars. Passion for world peace is ubiquitous but the prevailing hopeless/helpless false assumption that “nothing I can do would make a difference” prevents unified action. Unleashing our imprisoned peace energy will be unstoppable IF we only find the right key.
